GYROSCOPE

Gyroscope Orientation Survey

Despite best efforts to the contrary, wells can drift away from vertical during drilling and well construction. When a well is suspected to be less-than-plumb, Eaton Pumps can perform an orientation survey to ascertain how far from vertical, and in which direction, the well has strayed at a given depth.

Our Robertson gyroscopic verticality system measures simultaneous azimuthal and vertical deviation angles and correlates these with depth information so that the path of the well can be compiled and plotted in three spatial dimensions.

Orientation surveys are typically run to inform design of pumping systems in crooked wells (i.e. the depth and diameter of the system that the well can accommodate) and formulate well repair plans.
